Tearin' Up My Heart (& My Closet)

I've been slowly going through my wardrobe the last few weeks trying to purge unworn or worn out items. I still have t-shirts from when I was in grade school. Not even joking. I found an NSYNC t-shirt that I bought from their first major tour (no shame). I still have my uniform from when I was in high school (have I mentioned that I went to Catholic school for twelve years of my life?).
Anyway, I've also been going through my wardrobe to give new life to things that I love but have neglected. Here's some of the looks I've been conjuring up... <3
Striped tee + floral skirt + studded messenger bag + peep-toe booties + layered necklaces
Thrifted 90s button-up floral dress + drapey  cardigan + peep-toe booties + lariat necklace
Metallic lace tunic + white shirt + slouchy cropped pants + purple bag + peep-toe booties + layered pendant necklaces

Free People Love

Head over heels for these Patched Slim Slouch Jeans

FP, how do I love thee... Let me count the ways...

Whenever Free People unveils their latest catalog, I fall in love all over again with the brand and its entire vibe (prettypleasehireme). July was absolutely no different, especially with these Lou-inspired looks modeled by Aline Weber (total babe). Being heavily inspired and influenced by my male counterpart and heavy metal music, I adore the touches of toughness that FP always incorporates into their looks and products... Inspiration to be a more badass chick always!

DIY!

One of my 2012 resolutions/goals/aspirations is to create more... Whether it's DIY, Photoshop, painting, whatever, as long as I'm using the creativity that's been bottled up inside of me for the last few months. So far I've actually kept this resolution. I've been opening up Photoshop and Illustrator every couple of days, and my sewing machine has not gotten much rest the last two weeks.
So when I saw this DIY for transforming a t-shirt, I had to try it. It seemed so easy, and with no sewing required, it literally was a 5-minute project.

Design Inspiration...

The Design Center at my alma mater, Philadelphia University, has a Tumblr! This place has the most beautiful pieces of fashion history and a huge collection of prints and textiles from a wide range of locations and time periods. Their Tumblr gives you a little taste of all that they have. I always felt so inspired there, I never wanted to leave!

Getting my spark back...

I've been sitting down with my old friend Photoshop lately after many months of neglect. My inspiration fire seemed to have burnt out for a while after my mother passed away in February. I've been coming around, and thankfully, so has my creativity, and these inspiration boards are just the beginning of a new chapter in my life. Hope you enjoy!
